Opened at Clarence in HK. Mini Chambolle tasting. P&P.
Even in a difficult vintage like this, Mugnier delivers. Expressive from the first pour, with red fruits and floral notes dominating. Clear Chambolle elegance. A gorgeous bottle if enjoyed on its own.
Unfortunately, given JFM's lofty standards this was still probably the least impressive bottle of this Cuvee that I've had. You just can't cheat the vintage, and the greeness really came through with a bit more air. Also felt a bit thin - somewhat watery - and didn't really improve with time. This lacked the depth and latent power that you can often find with Fuées, and probably should have been enjoyed more quickly shared with more friends.
I adore Fuées, and they tend to have the capacity to age for a long time. Alas, for this vintage, I'd recommend drinking up - I don't think it will get any better, and so enjoy it whilst the fruit still lasts. Still, a real pleasure to share with E & M as always!

Served blind (in a Mugnier vs Roumier flight). Very clearly Mugnier, a really nice wine but also clearly a step down from the 14. More rustic and the fruit is a lot less precise. The acidity also peeks out a bit more. On its own - great. In the context of other Fuees, the vintage shows.

Smaker mer av produsent enn årgang noe som er veldig positivt i en slik vanskelig årgang. Beste 11 jeg har smakt
