Great with a well seasoned steak and pasta with garlic and oil on the patio. Drank tonight after the pleasure of a Larkmead Syrah 2008 last night. The Larkmead was a hedonistic treat to be remembered, but the Boom Boom gave great pleasure paired with the food tonight, and if I had spent on 1 bottle at a restaurant what the case of Boom Boom cost I would not have felt cheated!
Young and vibrant color - deep ruby purple. Aromas of violets, white peper / fragrant spice, sweet dark fruit. Medium density - fresh character with abundant red and dark fruit, mild tannins and acidity, hint of eraser rubber (not bad) and herbaceousness. Feminine in character and easy drinking.
Big, soft, berryish (raspberries?) Not much tannin, and very little acidity: that seems the defining feature to me. Some people, and some parts of the world, no doubt like the low-acid style; I find it wooly and diffuse. Wish I;d thought to put it in the fridge for half an hour: I reckon a bit of a chill would give it some focus.
