  Interesting notes: we served as part of wine dinner along side a lentil salad and selected cheese course. It was okay with salad and two cheeses were good. We had a French blu cheese that paired extremely well with the merlot and really "sweetened" the wine. The last cheese was also French and is sort of like a Camembert but a little firmer. It was what I refer to as "stinky" cheese and is very tasty. That is, until you paired with the wine. Probably my least favorite pairing for some time. Interesting, same wine, extreme difference.
