From a magnum. Past peak but with plenty to offer. Despite the corroded capsule and moldy, brittle cork, the wine showed quite well, with a soy/umami thing complementing gentle rose petal and balsamic notes. I also picked up saline, ginger and dried mushroom elements. Held well for six hours of gracious enjoyment.

Great fill and cork conditions in general. PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass ("Leaf" day): Pale garnet with slightly bricking rims.
Mushrooms, red dates and in general more tertiary fruits, seaweed, mint and lots of fine spices. More about depth here.
Welcoming texture but highly mineral that is quite saline with hints of seaweed on palate, and good bright acidity to support the wine. Clearly structured and I would almost say 'powerful' but more like this inner sense of energy especially during mid-palate. Quite a lot of minty spices towards the finish.
I would say this still have a few years ahead of its prime, but not a crime to enjoy now. 93-94 points.
1 hour upon opening, 3/4 left: Clearly gaining structure on palate, but also on nose where the additional liquorice and spices are more integrated into the tertiary fruits.

Medium brick, nose of mushrooms, anise, tar and some vegetal notes. Very little red fruit on the palate eventually shows up after decanting, otherwise mostly tannins and cedar. Med- acidity and med tannins. Not enough fruit to be a balanced wine

Barolo Dinner with Kerin O'Keefe (Maialino, NYC): From magnum. Extremely cloudy. Absolutely no fruit, just tar, licorice, and bitterness. Tannin holds the flavor in place for a long finish, but I kind of wish it didn't. This is just harsh.
