I've previously rated this wine a 92, but after tonight, I've increased it by 3 points. Two years ago this wine had an absurd barnyard funk that took some time to blow off, afterwards revealing some subliminal dark fruit flavors, with a touch of licorice and expresso notes, with the same on the palate, and a lingering streaky finish of red fruit & coffee, for about 15 to 20 sec. Tonight this wine turned into a complete Cinderella, with the aromas of dark cherry and raspberry scents, of incredible magnitude, leading the way on the nose, with slight undertones of red licorice & candied spice. The palate unleashed a stupendish array of flavors ranging from Kirsh Liqueur to a volumptuous blackberry creme a la mode, with a harmonious light mocha flavor, along with the acidity to suspend the finish for at least 30sec. +. This wine can improve for another 3 to 5 years, based on the fruit, tannins, acidity, & alchol, if stored correctly. Clearly a 20 year wine. 95+ By the way, it was a tie, if not one notch above the 2010 Laird Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
Decanted about an hour. Day 1, nose of dust, oak, and mild fruit. Tasted similar with the definite impression of age. Day 2, still some mild dust but the fruit was much more pronounced. Velvety and subtle with a really beautiful dark fruit core, with mild acidity. Wish I had more to see how days three and four would have turned out.
