| Community Tasting Notes (average 94 pts. and median of 94 pts. in 7 notes) | | | Tasted by popolka on 5/21/2009 & rated 95 points: Excellent! Full-bodied, interesting nose with fruit. Complex taste, lemon, pineapple, appricots. Very long aftertaste. An unforgetable VT that will only get better with time - glad I have kept a bottle to try after another 6-8 years! Tasted October 14, 2006 at win’s 40th birthday party. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel restaurant series white wine glass. Yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of beeswax, lemon and whetstone. Flavors of candied pineapple, apricot and lemon. Good acidity with medium body. Drink over the next 5-7 years. Nice nose (that's the weakest part of the package) with sweet notes of coconut, apricots, nuts, and white melon. Very nice, round mouthfeel that is very penetrating, and a length that seems 30 seconds long. Still tastes very, very young, and must have a good decade or two in front of it - if I can keep my hands off of the rest of the bottles for that long. Note to self: Drink the rest of the 2002 ZH's prior to this bottling! (1493 views) | | | Tasted by loriannkru on 7/14/2006: Ok, here's the winner. Unfreakingbelievable. (1356 views) | | | Tasted by JeffGMorris on 10/3/2005: The first of the 6 bottles tortured in shipping and hopefully not indicative of the other 5. Clearly off bottle based on past experience, showing very muted on the nose and even showing a little heat on the finish. Not rated. Medium yellow in the glass, this was my wine of the night. Although still a baby we wanted to pop one of these open to see how it was. Sweet aromas of smoke, apricots and fruit compote attack you as the glass is raised to the nose. Extremely full bodied this wine was very glycerol and mouthcoating. Deep and concentrated fruit flavors should integrate nicely in time and turn this into a legendary wine. Very long finish. This should be a worthy successor to the great ’94 bottling of this wine. 50+13+14+9+9 = 95++ (1936 views) | | | Tasted by winefool on 2/1/2005 & rated 93 points: Medium yellow. Nice rich aroma of avidity and botrytis. Really nice rich sweet botrytis wine. A whole different levelo fo sweetness tast compared to the ripe but subdued 2003s. 2/05 (1555 views) |
