My son was in his 15th year when this wine was vintaged. We shared this for his 40th birthday. Served with roast lamb and all the trimmings. From a 1.5 litre magnum. The cork was in reasonabe condition with some softening. Initial bottle stink cleared with a 1 hour decant. Colour garnet, fading to orange at the rim. Nose of red berries, leather cedar and some damp forest floor. Soft in the mouth with just a hint of astringency to cut through the lamb. Taste supported the nose. A beautiful Lake's Folly, with a little time left in this large format.

Bright red fruit alongside some leather and light herbaceousness, with a touch of brett adding an extra dimension without detracting from the fruit. Really refined, with good structure and length. A classic.

4th of 12. Fresh berry fruit with cedar. Very nicely balanced and only the beginnings of age this wine has many years left. Although a fine wine, for me it was a was disappointing has I would not have known that it was from the Hunter Valley or even Australia, it could be Bordeaux cru classe. Drunk with barbequed magret de canard and was an excellent match. 4/5

Mint, cranberry, some leather, charcoal, redcurrant and smoke. Palate is savoury and red toned, good texture and medium weight. Really nice spot.

upon opening it had a medicinal nose with wafts of cherry.
Decanted and left for a couple of hours and it really changed.
Palate was sour cherry, earthy dry fruit beautifully structured tannin and hint of oak
Very Bordeaux like. Tasted blind I would have definitely thought this was old world.
A beautiful and complex wine.
Drank with rack of lamb - last bottle but I do have a magnum left.
