  • Seemed a bit foursquare in comparison to the Vosne wines today. On its own may have been excellent, but suffered by comparison. At current pricing I'd rather go for Liger-Belairs Vosne 1ers, as they're more likely to be stellar and anything less than stellar at today's prices is a huge disappointment.

  • During a CLB NSG 1er Cru evening. This was the weakest wine by a margin. It came across as quite hot and slightly ox'ed and I would be contemplating thinking it was a storage issue but given I had a recent 06 Reignots from a different source they both showed remarkable resemblance. So we felt that possibly 06 was picked a bit too late? On it's own a very good wine still, but it wasn't an obvious CLB it was almost Barolo-esque.

  • A bottle open one hour before lunch and belonging to one of the most discussed vintages by critics and in turn more acclaimed by fans. A brilliant cardinal colour with brick edges. The unapelable quality of this winery appears from the first sniff. It is almost sweet, with aromas of fleshy dark cherries, dried Provençal herbs and a touch of anthracite. Behind there are notes of carob, spices and dairy. Further back there are details of varnished sandalwood and roasted cereals. This I call elegant complexity. The aristocratic sense does not end on the nose and continues in the mouth. Silky texture, subtle tar note, perfect balance between density and a mellow acidity. Length and taste flowing. What a wonderful and eternal aftertaste with coffee and cherry coke notes. A succulent bottle currently priced prohibitively but which must be tasted at least once in a lifetime to understand that the real class does not reside in Vosne-Romanée. Only. If it can help number 328 of 1535 bottles by the way. My short of wine.

Detrás aparecen notas a algarroba, a especias y a lácteos. A ésto llamo yo complejidad elegante. Longitud y sabor a raudales.

  • Absolutely wonderful, this 1er Cru drank better than many Grand Cru. Blueberries yes, but enveloped by raspberries and laced with strawberry and plum, the magnificent fruit and floral swirl reveals aromas that are Burgundy perfect. Lotus, violets, and wisteria envelop a rich, rounded mouth feel that drinks like a twenty year old perfectly cared for Burgundy graced with spice and warm earth.
