  • Lovely colour with some spritz, grapefruit, petrol on the nose. Beautiful fruit on the palate but a little sweet. 89pts. Second day: Still some spritz. Nice fruit and spices on the nose. Beautiful brown sugar and spices on the palate. Sweetness seems to have integrated. Almost spatlese in character. Good length

  • Previous post is bang on!! Simply put this is just a ridonkulously beautiful Kabinett that drinks more like a Spatlese. This was rocking with pulled pork on a bun and really at 8 yrs old I can't imagine it getting any better but it just might. 2010 was a tough year with high acids and many wines have suffered a certain vegetal character from that year but not this one!!

  • Simply put, this is delicious, a brilliant example of off-dry Mosel Riesling. The aromas are rich and abundant, with lemon-lime and pear-apple providing the balanced citrus-orchard fruit duality that distinguishes the varietal, but there is also sufficient petrol and minerality, as well as a pleasant spritz, to cut through the sweetness, and everything is bathed in glorious honey notes evoking the comforts of a well-tended garden on a warm, sunny day. It is luscious in the mouth, like a combination of mead and ice wine but with textural restraint alongside the intense flavours, with peach and grapefruit adding even more layers of fruit. Immensely appealing, for the style.

  • Considerably different from the recently enjoyed von Hövel Scharzhofberger Kab, this one possesses obvious aromas of botrytis on the nose. Not that I'm complaining, overall it's quite attractive with its chalk, apple and beeswax notes. Very clean and fresh! On the palate very much sweet and ripe, until the really hardcore acidity breaks out and wipes everything clean and dry. Perhaps overall not as racy or laserlike as one would hope - there is some fat here - but there is no denying that this is quite delicious stuff. Especially the finish really rocks (!), being delightfully stony and mouthwatering. Doesn't reach the heights of many top producer Kabs but a nice wine nevertheless and good value.
