Tropical fruit aroma, touch of acidity and just a little smokiness. A good match with the Thai food we enjoyed. Next time, I would recommend pairing with seared scallops or lobster. :-P

Good vintage for the Grgich Fume Blanc. Not over the top for this varietal (pleasing nose, excellent follow-through); not too acidic or puckering. Nice lemon and citrus notes and lychee with nice minerality. a nice food wine. Paired wonderfully with filet of sole with lemon and capers.

This showed an ethereal, transparent gold with an ever-so-slight nod to the mild green of fresh-cut silage. The nose was very pungent, overflowing with grassiness, skunky yarrow blossoms and a suggestion of cannabis. An oily, chewy mid-palate chock full of cantaloupe and guava but with enough crispness to keep things moving, like a tropical fruit salad with a spritz of lemon over the top. A meandering, dawdling finish that ultimately came full circle to the fresh-cut grass on the nose.
My gut feeling tells me this is not the bottle to test out on those who aren't already fans of this particular grape variety; but those who know they like things on the green-grassy side of the fence will be in bliss. This is a sauv blanc drinker's sauv blanc, if you will.

Grassy, OK but not to my liking. Tastes better after it has opened up for an hour or so.
