WCC US Syrah Blind (Provence Restaurant, Albany, NY): [Double-decanted around 5pm.] Not quite like any wine I can recall. I never had a fortified red wine that was so light on its feet. Hard to describe. Just exquisite and ethereal.

Chocolate and blackberry jam. Noticeable sweetness but no alcohol flavors, incredibly balanced with medium tannins adding structure. Open one now but I'm looking forward to seeing how this ages- i anticipate it will quite well.

Very interesting wine. This definitely has an overall character of a late harvest style of wine from California. Where it differs from most is that it is not overly sweet or alcoholic in character. Especially considering it is actually fortified. It's still big and brawny but well put together and even for the type. This surprised me. Apparently they only make it when they run out of the last batch.

- It's balanced with a medium/full body. Juicy texture with a medium finish - Blackberry hint of Chocolate Dark Fruit Vanilla a bit sweet enjoyed!

Pop and pour. Could tell it was a fortified wine but did not feel the full alcohol level. Black raspberries dominate.
