Jura with Richard Jennings (South Bay): Light garnet to a brown rim, the lightest and most browned color of the flight. Yet somehow the color is bright and vibrant. On the nose…Durian! with a bit of caramelized character - like durian moon cake. Slight thiols, slightly floral, and slight garlic/reduction. Tropical, banana-mango fruit. Possible carbonic/whole cluster?
This is fantastic on the palate! Durian, slight impression of custard - ripe fruit, oxidative savory tamari, browned durian. - medium body, - medium plus alcohol - feels 13%, - elevated tannins, grippy and slightly chewy. - high acid - bright and strong and clean (not much tart/malic character) - slight balsamic prickle on the finish.
I love this. Alive and fun! super weird.

I have no score for this. It's delightfully odd. I thought it smelled like the NJ Turnpike near Elizabeth, NJ on an overcast day but others thought it smelled nice and sweet. Hmm. Wouldn't be something I'd buy on purpose but interesting to try it. I imagine a lot of wine tasted like this 200+ years ago.

Royally rotten and delightful. If you don't like it, let me know. I have no others in my cellar and would enjoy petting a few more bottles of this exilir.

I couldn't disagree more with previous tasters. Fabulous wine. Med/- body. Grapefruit, cranberry, fine black pepper. Granite, mineral. Fruit on the palate ties all this together. More esoteric profile, yes, but I'd be buying this by the case next time I find it. Very friendly at the dinner table.
