  • PnP. Color and fill good+. The nose is amazing, the palate follows firmly in this manner. Good freshness, med/med+ body, very elegant, mostly tertiary (but in a fresh not 'old' way) with olive, cured meat, red/purple flowers, soil, etc. Each glass as if not slightly more impressive than the one before it. A treasure shared with vg friends during some difficult moments. Chapeau, Fred! If you're lucky enough to open one of these that's been well cared for, I hope you find your experience the same as mine highly recommended, thru 2029.

  • This was gone, looonngggg gone. Auction purchase based on the note "purchased direct from winery" implying good provenance. But based on VINOVINO's note from just over a year ago, this must not have been stored well.
No fruit remaining, tasted flat along with notes indicating the beginnings of vinegar.
I knew the risk but not to be this time around.

  • After Fred Scherrer shared a bottle of the '95 with me at Underwood Restaurant last year, I've been keeping my eye out for more. Found three of these '93s and pulled the trigger. Amazing that at 27 years old this pours out dark purple in the glass with very little bricking. Ripe dark fruit and a hint of menthol greet the nose on first whiff. Still bursting with bright acidity, there is wave upon wave of ripe black fruit on the tongue. This is just a phenomenal wine.

  • Very nice aged syrah. aromatic, dry and complex, long delightful finish. Fruit may not outlive the tannins so drink up.

  • dusty and a little old, but still drinking nicely. still has good acitiy, but the fruit has softened and the wine is definitely on the decline. This is the oldest CA syrah I've tasted.
