PNP Great nose and subtle tannins from the get go. Dark purple almost opaque color. Balance, balance, balance is one of the hall marks of most every Pride Cab I've had. "Massive", overstates things but the mountain fruit is substantial and concentrated and yet this wine always taste vibrant and vineyard fresh picked. There is real depth here with a kaleidoscope of flavors from dark chocolate to tobacco, tea, herbs, raspberries and cherry. Big and rich as this is there is still precision and enough lift to keep this feeling pretty nimble. 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot 14.5% Alc but not even a hint of heaviness or heat. The oak is perfectly integrated. This followed a couple glasses of champagne and that always makes any excessive oak jump out immediately at me. This should be everyone's no brainer Cab buy at around $70 from the winery or less at retail. One of Napa Valley's few remaining great values. I paid $54 at retail which was an out right steal as this is worth every bit of the then $68 winery price. Pride is a wonderful zen like place to visit with its unpretentious passion, and welcoming attitude on a beautiful mountain top setting. I always feel good about buying and drinking these wines. I should only be buying direct from the winery but I can't resist a great retail bargain.
