Private Chef Dinner at Yann's New Place (Flatiron, NYC): Oranging gold. Deep gouttey, brioche, orange peel nose, a little oxidized but that's OK. The palate is huge, with coconut, hazelnuts, and fully mature fruit and good resolution, though the acid is just a bit jagged at this stage. Good to excellent length of orange blossom and coconut. A real treat! Drink up.
Private Chef dinner at Yann's new place (Flatiron District, Manhattan, New York): Golden. Wonderful soft creamy nose of nuts, caramel, salty, sweet lemon, minerals and white flowers. As good as it is on the nose, it is a fucking revelation on the palate. It starts off salty and nutty, but it builds and builds with real focused power and persistence. Mouthfilling with roast nuts. Huge and soaring. Salty, lemon, spice. Fucking awesome. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 6/6, Finish - 6/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 2/2 = 19/20.
