Deep red and clear with no sediment. Highly aromatic, with red raspberry, licorice, and garrigue. Exceptionally smooth and caressing on the palate. Fleshy, with an electric, racy quality. Exactly what one would expect free-run juice made from 90yr old vines in CDP to be. Made in concrete vats, with no oak. Gorgeous wine.
I chose this bottle due to its 14.5% alcohol, which is lower than most vintages (the 2004 BarbeRac is 16%). For me, that was a good decision. Wonderful CDP Grenache profile and structure, without the heat.
PnP I've been looking forward to trying this and was not disappointed. A little funky on opening that seems to have mostly blew off, strong spicy, herby nose complemented with some serious red raspberry. Pretty low alcohol for a CDP as in its not really noticeable. Palate is soft and fruity with herbs and stoney flavors. A wine to drink over the next ten years I would think.
