This was a one-off I purchased years ago. It was not what I expected. The light red, opaque, color gave way to pretty red fruit, pretty earthy soil tones, a little earthy mint, and some pretty spice. Juicy and sappy, I would say it is full bodied, but it was easy going with a nice swallow.

My last of these. On the nose, good cherry fruit, a tiny touch of funk, a little mushroom and soy. In the mouth, still showing a little more tannin than I would have expected, dark/sour cherry fruit, and good and balanced spice, and earth tones. Even better with some air and a great match for the grilled lamb chops. Drinking very well.

Something went horribly wrong here... cork looked okay, no TCA smell, but when the wine was poured, strong odors of iodine and wet newspaper were present with absolutely no fruit. The taste followed the nose. Some of the wet newspaper smell blew off (so it wasn't corked), but this was a bad bad bottle. Clearly not like the other bottles described in other reviews here.

Better chance to evaluate this today. Used part for cooking and tasting part now. First, this is better when it is cool. Second, this wine is a hallmark of maturity. Leather, touch of barnyard (slight), cumin, coriander, really the entire spice rack. Touch sweet and very nice.

Arghhh! Badly corked. Supposed to be our Valentine's dinner wine.
