some mature fruit but too much of a spritz acidity on the edge and a slightly confected bubblegum element to the fruit on the finish - I find many NZ Pinot's are like this, so maybe just not my cup of tea
Chilled in fridge for 1/2 hour then PnP. Bright clear crimson slightly orange at the rim. Spicy nose with oak and cinnamon notes undr pining Bing and sour cherry rhubarb and cranberry. Light weight with crunchy fruit skin tannins. Silky on the palate with bright Bing cherry and cranberry with a touch of cinnamon earth and tobacco. Refreshing acidity on a lingering minerally finish. At its peak glad I did not wait any longer. Delicious with grilled salmon marinated with soy, rice vinegar, ginger, scallions and sesame oil.
Floral, and wild berry notes on the nose, with some darker green notes and a wisp of volatility. Mellow tannins mingle with ripe fruit and mineral tones on the palate with a hot and slightly acidic finish pulling attention from the smoother fruit notes on the fore-palate. Not likely to improve much in the coming years, this is a drink now through 2015 wine.
Looking back at my previous note I would say this bottle was a slight improvement but a distinct thin acidity on the finish - looking at other reviews it would seem that this style of NZ Pinot is not my cup of tea
