  • The 2010 version of this wine was a delicious blend of the big three grapes that showed how good the 2010 vintage was. Now hot its heels comes the 2011 – a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvigjnon / 29% Cabernet Franc and 23% Merlot. Surprising that in a year like 2011 the Sauvignon would be so dominant, but it seems to work here. The nose is filled with pretty cherry notes, while the palate seems to pile a bit more on: cherry, blackberry, chocolate – all with a lovely smokiness. Pleasantly light fruited with a long red berry and licorice finish, while the acidity isn’t too strong and the tannins roles delicately over the tongue keeping out of the way of the fruit. Drink the 2011 while waiting for the 2010 to come around a little more.

  • Winorama Canadiana! (Niagara on the Lake): Definitely feels young. There's some fennel and slightly unripe black fruit. Very tannic and acidic. I'm not convinced that Bordeaux varietals can grow in places like Niagara and this wine seems to suggest that could be true.
