Lunch at Kingyo (Kingyo Izakaya, Telok Ayer Street): Sweet and soft - not my favourite style, but this was fairly decent. The nose showed shades of honey, nuts and yeast floating around apple and stone fruit. The palate showed the fleshy, stone fruited sweetness of a demi-sec, but not quite enough brightness to keep it fresh or zippy. So while white tasty, it felt little soft and flat when served without fruit. It did fare better with a selection of Japanese fish though, with brighter Apple notes coming to the fore. Altogether, decent without really impressing.

Bubbles were good, but this one was a bit too sweet for my taste. Of course I say this as I took down 2-3 glasses of this... :) Peach and grapefruit/tropical notes rather present here. Finishes with a sweeter "demi-sec" character to it. I know that I'd be perfectly OK drinking a bottle of this with anyone, but probably wouldn't seek it out on my own. Good bubbles to balance out a nice white and red lineup tonight.

Quite nice, but I like my Champagne drier. Ripe in style with a hint of yeast and autolysis. This makes the overall experience of the sweetness a bit more present. The acidity is medium and the mousse aggressive again. But still a nice one!
