After a score of great Combe D’Orveaux from Taupenot, this is now the second bottle recently that was off. Not corked but a combination of racy acid and feral scents amidst plenty of fruit. But none of the soft elegance of Chambolle as most other bottles from 2009 and 2011 exhibited.

2011 Burgs (Noize): So lovely. A bright, giving nose that had a wonderful combination of floral and savoury character. Lots of juicy fruit on the sleek-framed palate, with a touch of red apple as well as red berry; more like a 2017 than a 2011? We all enjoyed this, and voted it group #3, but there were murmurs that it was maybe a little bit *too* attractive!

Burgundy wine swap on Vesak Day. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with thin garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark TCM herbs, DangGui Angelica root, ginseng, Ling Yang, dark red plum. Developing. On the palate, dry, juicy high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet dark red plums, dark red cherries, deep red berries, bittersweet herbs and roots, Ling Yang, fine sweet spice, dark moist earth, underlying stony minerality. Long fine broad finish with some structure. Very good quality. Sophisticated and complex. But not for the herb haters. I seem to have developed a rather high tolerance for herbs nowadays. Tertiary notes already but probably still some more age development available over the next few years.

Third bad bottle--vintage or mold? after cases of this cuvée for years, something is amiss. Stinky, lots of tca, not sure if corked or just rotten.

Indescribably corked and stinky. First time after 3-4 cases of T-M wines.
