The fruit of youth has moved into the background. What remains is a full bodied, oily mouthful of white Rhone goodness. Two days later it showed better than on initial pour, so no rush on drinking up. It will likely benefit from a few years more of rest.

Color: medium-deep straw yellow core with good apparent viscosity. Pronounced and complex bouquet after sitting in the glass for about 15-20 minutes (was making dinner and didn't get to it right away); toasted pinenuts, honeysuckle, lemon, smoke and that Marsanne-y glue element. Palate not quite keeping up with the nose but very good nonetheless. Nutty, honey/lemon notes with a fresh touch of salinity. Medium-bodied with a low acid level and a reasonably long finish (touch of almond kernel bitterness), I'd say these probably are best enjoyed over the short term.

Pale straw and lemon in the glass. Lifted aromatics of dried quince, apple skins, and almond. First thing that hits the palate is a little barely browned butter and almond skins, then I notice the medium bodied density, some chalk and barely ripe apples ride across the mid palate, then it segues to a little dose of acid, chalk and limes on the finish. Drinking nicely now.

Rounding nicely into form. Flavor profile is lemon meringue, with hint of nuttiness, which seems to be a hallmark of this wine. I think Tim's note on temperature might be important here. I pulled this and took it to dinner, so it was out of cellar temp for ~ an hour before opening. Drank with first two courses, crabcakes and asparagus soup.

(Maison Bleue Petite Joie Marsanne Boushey Vineyard Yakima Valley) Leaps up from the glass with marzipan, spice, pear, white peach, and sweet spices with a lot of aromatic complexity – truly you can just sit and smell this wine and be satisfied. The palate is textured and airy while retaining a sense of viscosity and depth. Hangs around for a lingering finish. 100% Marsanne. Aged 11 months in French oak (30% new). 13.3% alcohol. 140 cases produced. Sample provided by winery.

Lemon oil & chalk. Mostly reticent with a little reduction in the aromatics. Pleasant but not my cup of tea.
