Our last bottle and a great side to sirloin steak. Dark with just a hint of transparency on the edge. An initial strong aroma of dark fruits but this blew off fairly quickly. The palate was an intriguing and rich mix of black and red fruit. There was just sufficient tannin and acidity to keep the wine honest but smooth. Nice length. Overall a very enjoyable wine

Deep opaque purple color Medium plus aromas of black fruit/ plum and fig with dried herbs/ leather and hint of dry rock minerality Full intense palate of sweet ripe black fruit and figs Medium tannins and medium acidity with medium plus alcohol and a nice finish of medium length Tannins have melded nicely since my last tasting Well made wine - bit too ripe and fruit forward for my taste and lacking in complexity - drink now or hold 4-5 yrs

This wine has given us a great deal of pleasure over the years and it really has not changed that much but this bottle was truly outstanding. On the nose it is a heady mix of dark fruits, with hints of tar, liquorice and burnt toffee. This follows through to the palate which is fruity but never sweet and with very smooth tannins lying there in the background structure. Maybe this may lack the raw power and density of some other top level Duoro wines but it has great subtleties and for me the avoidance of any sense of Portiness requires a higher score.

Dense purple/ violet color - unfiltered Medium aromas of blue/black fruit with hints of leather/ wet earth - moderate oak influence Medium palate of black fruit - not a lot else Medium(+) tannins which are a little dominant presently Medium acidity Well made wine but doesn't reach the depths Ive had in other Douros

Continues to drink wonderfully well, dark almost mysterious layers of flavours, complex, intriguing, demands that you try another sip.
