I was expecting much more. Initially, great texture and depth straight from the bottle with plum flavors, mild oakiness and some tannins. After about an hor it mellowed out too much. Light for cab. Not as much depth and finish for 93 rated wine.
Had next to the 2010 Ciel de Cheval from Cadence which is more Cab Franc based - both with rib and sausage. This was so rich and smooth and developed over the few hours it was open. Great blend and amazing QPR at this price...crowd favorite of the Ciel de Cheval, though I think I might have liked that better- though its a mood thing.
Opened and decanted 3 hours prior to dinner of grilled BBQ pork loin, grilled yellow potatoes, and a hearty feta/fruit salad. Dark, purple, cloudy color with a violet hue around the rim. The nose didn't fully emerge until after hour four, but it eventually brought a nice floral bouquet, including fresh spring violets and roses, along with candy cane, spearmint, lavender, and touches of herbs. The full-bodied palate is extremely textured, rich and savory, flowing with green raspberries and loads of black cherries, black currant, rich blackberry pie, and cinnamon toast. It concludes for almost a full minute with with notes of fresh strawberries, mint, and eucalyptus against some chewy tannins and firm acidity. This should age extremely well. Drink 2015-2030.

(Cadence Tapteil Vineyard Red Wine Red Mountain) Cabernet Sauvignon aromas of olive, black currant, fresh herbs, and cassis rise out of the glass followed by floral, mineral, and barrel notes on this aromatically brooding wine. On the palate, the black plum flavors show great depth and intensity, pinpoint focus, a palate coating feel, and tannins combed to a fine sheen. A highly structured wine that goes off the end of the delicious scale. Best after 2017. 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, and 14% Merlot. 14.4% alcohol. Sample provided by winery.
