Smell almost new world with a grapey, cerises a l'eau de vie and pruny nose. The palate shows very firm tannins which are bitter and a similar profile than the nose with the oak a little more pronounced. Good acidity though. To me this wine lacks any Volnay character and doesn’t show any elegance. Very disappointing.

Tasted from barrel by David Hanson. Very deep purple-red; open and fresh on the nose, with blackcurant aromas; rich and densely fruity, a beautiful, ripe wine with fresh aftertaste. "One of the most beautiful wines of the Hospices" said Jean-Paul Bailly of Bouchard, with which I fully agree. (I recommended this cuvée to several other clients, who also bought it).
