  • I would agree with other reviewers that this is certainly in a great spot. A tiny bit of rim variation led me to believe this was in its early peak. Took about 30-45 mins in the decanter to get to its zenith. Great plummy fruit notes waft, with earthy smoke, black fruit, dried beef, and pepper. Really balanced wine with a great finish too.

  • Very nicely balanced WA syrah in its prime, perhaps lacking just a little in complexity, it was nevertheless enjoyably delicious. This cool year syrah's tannins are fully resolved and ultra-smooth, and the judicious oak usage leaves no vanilla accents that might otherwise mar such a wine.

    Touches of black olive (which I love) and other savory notes combine with blue/black fruits on the palate.

    I may slightly prefer the 2010 Gramercy Walla Walla by a hair, but this was no slouch.

  • Initially, my comment was this isn’t a style of Syrah I seek out. Not that it isn’t delicious (because it is), but normally from WA/OR, I want some funk. That being said, the more I drank from the bottle, the more I scratched my head thinking “wow, this is better than I thought”. This is an in between of cool climate Cali Syrah + non funk driven WA state Syrah. I didn’t pick up a lot of stem inclusion here regarding greenness. Cracked black pepper, black currant, loads of violet/potpourri and some spiced jelly aromatics. The palate, over the course of 8hrs in the bottle, blossomed to a profile of herb crusted blackberries, jerky, spiced rhubarb and a crunchy/tannic bite on the finish that brings you back to Syrah. Delicious now, but probably has another 2-3yrs until peak.

  • Nice subtle smoked plums and dark berries.
    Meaty elements and a nice balanced finish.
    Really great example of Washington Syrah and fantastic QPR.
