I was really impressed by the quality of this wine. Old school in style, it's not your typical big jammy California style of Cabernet. Quite complex, with tobacco, spices and red berries aromas, this wine is currently in a perfect drinking window. Even though it has 14.5% alc/vol...you don't really feel it. Tannins are supple, wood (after 27 months!) is well integrated...really nice job...and currently a deal at $85, after I've seen Dominus 2012 for $331CDN...which is absolutely crazy.
Ample et costaud...beaucoup de boisé et de concentration...fait un peu bête de circque. Cher pour ce que j'avais dans le verre, mitigé en ce moment et pas certain d'être assez patient pour cette cuvée!
Tasting at Kenwood Winery (Kenwood, California): Smells jammy and rich on the nose, with sweet raspberries and plums. Really lovely nose. Full and packed with plum, cherry and fig compote. Silky tannins along with creamy vanilla and tempered toast. Rich but balanced, all that I love about Sonoma Cabernet. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
