  • My 1st of 6 bottles bought upon release. An unusually ripe vintage for Claudia's Choice, lots of intense black cherry and plum with chocolate and hints of roasted meat. Still wonderfully fresh, I look forward to seeing where/ how this evolves. I expect even further upside from here.

  • 4 years ago my note was VERY similar! PN purists should run and hide from this. Decanted an hour before turkey. Still big, dark and deep with a slightly sweet black cherry, a touch of black currant, plum, and that same stone minerally element. Very nice texture and length. Might be better again in a year! 2022-2027!

  • Like this a lot. Has serious structure and tons of flavor. Seems to be drinking well now but should be good for quite some time.

  • PHMG WAG: 2012 Oregon Pinot Noir Remix: Biggest WOTN in terms of structure. A mineral / stone component backs up the black cherry and plum fruit. Maybe better on day 2! Wait a little: 2018-2022

  • Huge for an OR Pinot. Extracted, rich, and of questionable depth....spent a decent amount of time looking for something that seemingly wasn't there.

I was a big fan of the 2011. One of the best OR pinots I've ever had, and I had multiple bottles of that vintage. This one is a bit different.

Hopefully time will help it unwind into something other than a reasonable facsimile of new world grenache.

6/12/17 - Drank third bottle of a six pack. The wine is transforming and my previous note/experience was clearly the result of infanticide. While still fruit driven, the gamey nature of pinot noir grape is starting to assert itself. The level of extraction and vibrant fruit currently make this more like a modern Saint Joseph/Cornas doppleganger than a delicate WV pinot, but the baby fat is definitely falling away on this one... and what's underneath I can't quite get a clear read on yet.

My guess is that this will be a very interesting wine in 3 years time, and that I'll think it's somewhere between very good and absolutely fantastic.
