Very nice varietal nose and flavors. Fairly well balanced with just a touch of heat on the finish; best if chilled to cool room temperature. Aromas of black cherry and a bit of sassafras but not offensively so, just typical of slightly overripe grapes, probably accounts for the heat too.
This is too young to score, but we wanted to taste and see about ordering 2013 futures. Acid is still too high, but there is some pleasant cherry fruit, earth, and dark fruit in a nice finish. We will give our 2012 Ken Wright wines a couple of years but they should come together and be lovely.
Bright, clear plum color. Deep berries, licorice, earth, clove on the nose. Big wine, but balanced. Not a fruit bomb. Way young to try it, but wanted to see if this vintage will live up to the acclaim. Deep fruit, 'bramble', spices. Will be interesting to try the others. Definitely holds a lot of promise.
