Ripe cherry and berry, spice over vanilla and slightly dusty notes. Quite dense on the nose. Ripe berry strays into the black fruit spectrum and the oak is quite constrained (compared to the 2006). Chalky tannins. Nice.
Impressive dense aromas of high quality vanillin oak, blackberries, some florality, freshly picked raspberries and spice. Its medium to full bodied eliptical palate has excellent concentration on the attack and on the stylish and layered middle. Ends medium long and a little unknit with some heat from the alcohol.
Pop, decanted through an aerator and then followed for two hours. My second of four bottles bought a few years ago. Opened as an experiment to see how it was coming along. More mature than I expected but still a baby. Rustic herbs and red fruit. No fierce tanins, pleasant to drink. Leave the next two bottles for a few years to let them flower.
