  • Garnet in color and very much some wood and wet earth on the nose with not much fruit. On the palate it is sour cherry, somewhat astringent. Actually tried this with a chocolate chip cookie and it tasted far better (who knew). The sweetness and the fat/butter helped cut the astringency for me. Probably should have waited a few more years to see if those fruits came out....I wouldn't open it now if you have it....can't hurt to wait a year or two.

  • Disappointed. On the light side. Damp earth, woodsy, mineral flavors dominate over the cherry and stone fruit flavors. Tannins still wound tight. Maybe just needs more time? Not sure

  • Although decanted for over an hour, this was still kind of young, gangly, hadn't come together. I liked it a year ago at the Bergstrom tasting room, but now it disappointed. Served with beef bourguignon, with which it should have been especially well matched!

  • This has put on some weight since my last tasting and is really very good right now. Much more open and flavorful than 14 months ago the nose is filled with high toned red berry fruit, floral scents, anise, and a bit of damp leaves/earth. The palate is absolutely lovely with very good concentration of the red fruits and beautifully elegant with outstanding balance. I think the OR 2011s based on my recent tastings are going to be fantastic mid-term drinkers. This has the concentration to get better for a few more years as well, but its really good now.

  • More garnet than ruby. Light, airy and delicate but with a finishing grip that is significant and rescues what might otherwise be said to be "thin". Cherry, coffee and blood orange. More to the palate than the reserved nose portends.
