  • From auction, soft, but pristine cork. Decanted off small amount of fine sediment. Followed over the evening. On the nose and palate, ripe red fruit, some cassis, along with fresh earthy and sweet tobacco notes. Medium bodied, silky mouthfeel. Still youthful, but nice character, drink over the next 20 years, per your preference. 75% CS, 22% Merlot, 3% CF.

  • Perfect fill no brett like Wetrock mentions but everything else aligns. On the ripe side for Mount Eden Cabernet. Nice leather, cedar and fine tannins. I would not pop again for another 5-10 years but it will probably go another 20 years. My bottle was very primary.

  • The fill had me slightly worried which is why I even opened this. Otherwise I would have put it off until next year. A touch of some sour brett. Not the kind that leaves an interesting note but the kind that gives a hint of spoilage on the back end. Just a touch though. Other than that this was quite brooding. Not really giving up a whole lot. The next night it blossomed. That brett had been overwhelmed by the classic cool expression of mountain Cab. It's a bit broad shouldered as an SCM Cab goes. Like the ripeness is a bit higher than they might have wanted which gives it a bit more palate weight than expected. Other than that this was quite good. Classic cedar and cassis. Plenty of tannin still. Leaving the other one for a few more years. This is just getting there it seems. Very good.

  • Very enjoyable and seemingly mature. Expressive nose of black fruits, tobacco leaf, and dill. Palate is nicely integrated with some tertiary fruit elements, black fruit and smoke profile. Lengthy finish. I suspect this will hold its own with Ridge but haven’t had side to side.
