  • Wiggins birth year. 2022-warriors champs! As good as any of the single vineyards. Decanted and got bigger til the end of game 6.

  • From the Once and Future Ravenswood library sale.

    Pop and pour.

Great cork. Broke in one place but very little soak through.

    Moderately cloudy mahogany color.

Very expressive on the nose. Cedar, menthol, blackcurrant, wild herbs.

Smooth and balanced on the palate. Slightly sour black fruits with everything (fruit, acid, tannin) in lovely balance.

What i would call a claret style Zinfandel. Wonderful old school california, and drinking really well. I don't see any improvement likely, although good bottles will hold if needed.

  • Slow ox over 2 hours then gently poured into small decanter and served immediately.

Fresh and still powerful dried/candied cherry, plum, slight pomegranate. Dried floral, leaves, undergrowth aromas.
    Slight peppery spice.

Nearly resolved soft tannins, fading acidity, but a nice intensity of fruit on the palate and a long dried fruit-driven finish.

No rush on this one, this bottle has 10+ years.

  • Nose is a little shy with notes of prunes but the palate is loaded with tart raspberry liqueur, cherry cola and a hint of anise. Fairly weighty mid-palate but luscious creamy texture allows it to slide right through. It’s all framed with lively acidity and a wee touch of chalk. Best aged Ravenswood Zin I’ve ever tasted.

  • Now at the age of 24, this old vine Zinfandel drinks more like a Cabernet. Sporting a nice core of dark plum and fig fruit, it adds notes of allspice, cocoa, cedar, anise and earth. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with melted tannins, it stays luscious on the mid-palate and closes with a long, chocolate-laden finish. Those holding well-cellared bottles will be quite pleased. Drink now-2022.
