When I pulled the cork on this I was amazed - it had held together wonderfully and the wine inside the bottle had plenty of colour. While the fruit had almost completely faded there was a hint of some berries which were hidden in the background, as well as sous bois and earthy tones. The palate was still enjoyable - a fine line of acid remained while the tannins were featherweight but still with just enough bite. All in all a wonderful fully developed wine that exceeded my expectations completely.

Unfortunately this wine has passed it's prime. The wine looks fantastic in the glass and smell wonderful although tired but is undrinkable. A real shame as this was a great wine.

Yarra Yering Blind Vertical Tasting (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Challenging wine to assess. Shows very little aromatically. Bight fruit with firm tannic grip and lots of structure. Moderate fruit coming through, but this might have some longer term potential.

Rich, full bodied Pinot with hints of shiraz like jamminess, but weak nose and little reflection of terrior
