Sadly the last of the gang. I hope that Wine Access will run this one again sometime. Checked all the boxes for me in the way of a sophisticated sparkling wine.

Somewhat tardily entering a note to record consumption of the penultimate bottle; the final one was consumed shortly thereafter. It has been the practice to haul one out to celebrate minor occasions such as Thanksgiving, birthdays etc. A very fine value for a well-balanced, dry, refined alternative to Champagne. We usually accompany with an oyster (best) or some kind of salmon.

It is that time of year again when moments of celebration occur and maybe a few oysters and smoked salmon appear to augment the scene. As was the case last year, this splendid Alsatian does the job very nicely: lively upon opening but settles quite quickly to give a fine bead, pale straw color, yeasty toasty notes, bright acidity, quite dry, excellent match for those oysters.

Hauled another one out to supplement the festivities; I thought the bone dryness and distinct mineral quality complemented our humble bed of oysters nicely. Going fast.

I was excited to try this right after taking delivery; Alsace is one of our favourite regions for versatile food-friendly wines and I am always interested in good alternatives to Champagne.
The wine pours with an energetic effervescence, a thick crema of small bubbles that dissipates fairly rapidly, pale straw color, toasty aroma quite attractive, on the palate notably dry, minerality, faint citrus, some nuanced biscuity notes, some length.
Conclude: a welcome and good-value alternative to the lesser notes of Champagne.
