Three hour decant, the nose on this is gorgeous with dark cherry, light pepper, copper and earth tones. The palate is still well balanced with light acidity and chocolate tannins blending with dark cherry, raspberry, hints of tar and a sweetness as well. This is a full bodied wine with a very long, satisfying finish. Reminiscent of a northern Rhone version of syrah, this is a great bottle of wine still drinking very well after 16 years.

Expressive nose of blacberry, game, pepper and earth. Some lovely muskiness later. Delivers a good balance of dark fruit and herb (? oregano) and earth. Delicious California syrah likely drinking at it's prime.

Better thN expectations ...solid balance, acidity and length. Still solid fruit but now much more restrained. Biggest element missing to be more than good is complexity...not an abundance of secondary flavors.
