  • Aromas of earth, lathered horse, iron and mineral greet the nose.
Medium bodied and somewhat smooth as it crossed the palate, bitter herbs and iron are the first discernible flavors, rose hips, leather, and some barely discernible and completely dry berry show up later, and then there seems to be a little graphite on the medium length drying finish. There is acid, but this is not juicy wine at all. Rather the acid allows the dry finish a backdrop to etch an impression upon. Structure, interest, and length, a very well made, earthy, grounded Syrah. Tastes like a more mature Syrah, nicely integrated and very enjoyable.

  • A really fine, authentic nose of violets and lilacs with deep black fruits and garrigue spices. On the palate there is crisp, gripping acidity balanced by lovely smoky black fruits and dark spices. The finish is also crisp and shows a wonderful floral side that is delicious, fresh and intriguing. A really good St. Joe served by the glass at Blue Hill Stone Barns.
