Right out the gate: On the nose, jammy/ripe fruit, pencil shaving and a little bit of savor and hint of smoke.. On the Palate, ripe berries, cocoa nib, black fruits. Was surprised that the tannin structure is still pretty grippy and then rounded out and was smoother after an hour. There’s a good depth to it and a medium to long finish. A lot of fine grain sediments towards the bottom (as expected), a bit funkier ripe smell after about 3 hours of opening. Overall, a good wine! possibly past its peak but held up well and still have some life to it. If you have one, Drink up now!!!

Not yet dead but getting there; got it just in time so it was worth finishing rather than pouring out; brick and garnet color with substantial sediment in the bottle; some berry fruit with wood and beefy notes; medium body and mild finish with some astringency remaining. Better earlier but held up longer than expected.

BV had 1997 "Centennial Release" wines specifically labeled " Napa Valley", "Coastal" and "Rutherford". Does anyone have any history of tasting the "Rutherford"?
Before I enter my Centennial Release "Rutherford", I want to know if I should bother saving it.

Good. Chalky with a firm domination of black cherry. Not past it's prime yet but close. Great for the auction price of $20.

Good nose and fruit. This is an excellent wine with steak.
