From 75cl, good cork. My TN of 09.06.2014 is analytically accurate enough, but quite beside the point. Which is: Anyone who still thinks that Riesling is a light, girly kind of wine (for drinking on summer picnics to accompany cucumber sandwiches with the vicar, perhaps) should steer well clear of this muscular thug of a heavyweight rude-boy Pfalzer. "In your face" doesn't even come close, this has real testosterone energy and serious attitude. Think Madness or The Clash, at least. Fantastic stuff. 88P
From 75cl, excellent cork. This is in a different league to my previous bottle, which must have been slightly flawed, and is even better on the second day. Subdued but very clean, appetising citrus and green apple scent; nice tropical fruit crescendo onto the mid-palate, but otherwise the gentle ripe citrus theme persists; prickling acidity, impressively tense stony-mineral backbone on the finish. Very good indeed. 89(-90)P
From 75cl, excellent cork. Very concentrated but rather generic Pfalz Riesling. Heavy and rather over-ripe with slight hints of the voilatile off-notes which Riesling from less than stellar Pfalz/Rheinhessen terroir can carry (were this a southern French red, it might be one of those wines which smell of dustbin juice on a hot day). Tropical multi-vitamin fruit juice with added ginger and lemon. OK but not great value at 10 EUR/75cl, and a disappointment compared to my memory of the (more poised) 2009 at a similar age. 85-86P
