  • This remains a very energetic wine that is filled with complex fruit in the palate. The wine continues to burst with acidity giving lift and energy that glides across the palate. A tannic frame allows this wine to unfold with layers of licorice, black fruits, smoke, creme de cassis, and iron.

The blends of grapes here really come together and offer wonderful elegance with drive and persistence.

  • Just didn't do it for us. Dark fruited, a touch smoky, and kind of muddled. Could use more delineation and lift. Meh.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes and served with grilled chicken. this wine really needs to be served at or below 65 degrees as once it warmed to room temperature the alcohol was overwhelming on the nose. Until it warmed up, similar flavor profile (chocolate, blackberry preserves, charcoal, menthol) on nose & palate (ex. charcoal). Fully body, nice tannic structure and very good with the grilled chicken. 92+ until it warmed up. 89-90 at room temperature.

Will buy future vintages of this wine (I loved the '05) as this wine offers complexity and good fruit and as long as served at the right temperature it's 92+.

  • Thick as blood coming out of bottle, in fact I thought I was in for a candied bomb after that initial pour & swirl. The palate was surprisingly elegant with medium body, although I do have to agree with the comment that this is best served slightly chilled vs @ room temp.

  • Seems to have faded. Probably time to drink up.
