Aerated with a Vinturi and decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, currant, coffee, vanilla and dried herbs. A black and blue fruit core combines with coffee, spice and fine tannins on the palate. Leads to a long, dry finish. Full bodied. Dense and layered with excellent balance and weight. An outstanding Cali cab. Paired with Greek tenderloin.
Best wine of the night. Big powerful and tannic. Young, very young. This could cellar for another 5-10 easy. Personally I like my cabs young but this was on the leading edge of that. Powerful black and purple fruit with a nice lingering finish.
This wine in my opinion is ready to drink today. Decanted for 3 hours, and over a 5 course meal, and battling 2 other great cabs (Larkmead 2009 cab, and Rattlesnake 2010 Barnett) The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Slow. On the nose, It smells like Forest floor, Mineral, and Light toast. The body is Medium. The wine has Silky texture. The wine finishes Long.
