High shoulder bottle with solid color. Showing some orange at the rim, this wine had a lovely medium+ intensity nose of cherries, red dust, plum, and some tan spices.
In the mouth , this wine was quite light at first but developed a lovely structure to balance the fruit over a few hours. It had had great length, lovely complexity, and firm acidity.
Sometimes I got a little coursness but most of the time this was great. Maybe not quite up with my last bottle.

From a perfect bottle, this wine had a very deep red center with orange rims. The high- intensity nose blasted out black cherries, dark chocolate, forest floor, and dried mulberry notes.
After 5 hours of air this wine really started to sing. It had sweetened from slight bitter chocolate and started leaning more toward the fruit flavors. The tannins were light and beautifully integrated to support the fruit.
This was a serious wine for wine lovers and it was great with food. Outstanding!

What fun to have the 1975 HEITZ FAY in the glass alongside the 74 Heitz Martha, the Fay showing a much more traditional fruit-driven profile with boysenberry accented by luxurious leather and a touch of mint, sandalwood, and loam. This particular bottle is getting a little diffuse on the palate (I’ve had better 75 Heitz Fay and I’ve had worse), but there’s no denying its elegant, winsome appeal

Nose: Elegant perfume of red fruit, cedar, sandalwood, red plum, tomato skin and mushroom. Palate: red fruit, stone, mineral, turned earth and herbs. Started very fresh, but old leather and tomato notes emerged the longer this was open.
A well preserved example of this Heitz wine that was only made for a few vintages.

Beautiful, evolved Cabernet nose; deep purple-red color; smooth and balanced on the palate, with just the right note of tannins to show it still has potential for aging; ripe fruit mingles with forest elements to carry into a lengthy, satisfying finish.
