We really enjoyed this wine which had a classic medium bodied bordeaux taste. Sweet black cherries, toast, herby flavor with a very nice texture - softer than others. Very consistent throughout evening - we didn't decant.
This was a very, very enjoyable bottle of wine for what it was. Dad opened this with braised brisket, a somewhat tough match. At first the nose was textbook Bordeaux with loads of graphite elements and a hint of roasted plum. With air the Merlot started to shine with a spicy element. The palate was a bit thin at first, mostly showing minerality, but with air this did gain nice weight and clearly showed some ripe, albeit restrained fruit. There is no tannin to be found, so drink this up now while it still has fruit. This is a solid, solid bottle of wine.
