Initial notes of leather, violets and medicinal cherry. Three hour decant. Opaque garnet with some cloudiness suggesting that the bottle should be kept upright a few hours before decanting. Eucalyptus aromatics. Good concentration of fruit. Orange marmalade, dried figs, pencil shavings and red cherries. Medium to full bodied. Finishes a bit hot.
Sumptuous. Perfectly mature deep ruby wit no real sediment, displaying a lovely nose of black fruit, date and spice Perhaps my expectations were too high but this seemed slightly simple for what should be a dynamic, powerful Northern Rhone syrah. If a date, this is the understated office beauty you have admired for years, who you casually bump into at the lunch counter and you spend the entire afternoon together.
Ruby with orange edge. Balanced, elegant wine. Initially had that nice barnyard & meaty aroma, but with air that backed off to a more nuanced character of clean fruit with nice depth and poise. Light pepper, but not spicy. Still fresh.
Opened and decanted after 30 minutes. Initially had that barnyard/meat aroma, but dissipated quickly. A little dumb after 60 minutes, then began to open again. Not on the down-slide.
