Decanted for 30 minutes before tasting. Dark purple core, pink rim. On the nose; blackberries, raspberries, mocha, cinnamon stick and vanilla-toffee. On the palate; ripe fruit, lots of dry extract, firm grip and good length. Bigger and brawnier than the Lytton Springs. While currently lacking its stablemate’s balance and sense of elegance, it might well end up as the better wine in the end. Definitely serviceable, but I suggest giving it the chance to settle down a little by letting it sleep for at least another two to three years (91-94 points).
91+ better on night 2 (good with pizza but good with steak on night 2). Didn't take formal notes. Decant if drinking now. Would buy again. Retasted 4 nights later (left in cellar under vacu-vin) and still drinking well - very soft and red fruit dominant. Should age well.
