Finishing off an inexpensive (less than $44/bottle including tax) case of what has proved to be a very in-and-out wine. Dark fruits, some subtle spices, velvet texture -- all typical of Chaignots. But the wine tonight lacks the precision and clarity of better vintages. Cellared since original release.

Delighted our bottle was better than those described below. Robert shows his deft and slightly traditional touch with NSG. Superb balance in the wine, hints of raspberry among the deeper richer flavours. Wonderful length. Real Burgundy as it should be. Very enjoyable now but no rush

Had it side by side with 2005 Pacalet NSG village and the Pacalet showed way nicer. Chaignots in contrast had a depth of fruit but not as many secondary flavors and a bit too much sweetness (and a bit of alcoholic burn on the throat).
Still a good wine that likely just needs to be held a bit longer. Will hold my last bottle until 2023+.

At Shabbat dinner. Nose was great and got better after two hours in decanter. Flavors were a bit muted on the fruit. Nice wine. Drink up
