  • This was amazing. Deeply colored, although with a slightly tawny rim. Nose was rather fruit-focused: cassis, ripe plums, boysenberry. Subtle spice and forest loam if you hunted for that. A bit tannic and bitter for the first hour (this was a PnP bottle after something else seemed flat and cooked), then softer and more open. Endless finish. Just a great wine!

  • Serious wine. Pencil shaving, deep dark black/blue fruit, rich ripe fruit but with a balance and delicate touch that clearly separates it from a run of the mill Napa Cab. Undeniably high quality wine with even more to give.

  • Drank with 2010 Matriarch and 2010 Promontory. Nose was forest floor, eucalyptus. Dark fruits and anise with a gripping long finish. This was outstanding on its own, with a dry aged ribeye? Front row center for Tony Bennett in ‘70’s good.

  • A bit closed even after a 45 minute opening. Opened up during a fine BBQ July 4th dinner. Easily the wine of the Night. Dark deep black look to it. Nose was very fruity with lots of leather and terroir on it. This is a great vintage!

  • This dense, integrated, and earthy Cabernet is drinking beautifully right now, with an Old World class I found hard to resist. Garnet in color and medium in body, the wine offers compelling aromas of charcoal, grilled blueberry, graphite, porcini mushroom, and freshly tilled soil. The flavors are similarly mature (ie, modern but savory), with notes of boysenberry, dried herbs, gravel, and fresh embers, followed by a layered finish that still has grippy tannins. This should be even better in a few years, but it's compelling right now. 14.5% alcohol.
