Really delicious, delivering as expected for Carlisle. Lovely perfumed nose of briary fruit and boysenberry. Palate is fine and lush, without being overblown and minimal heat adding a bit of pepper. Lengthy finish staying light despite the reported 15.8% alcohol. Popped and poured and served at cellar tremp with burgers and it went along great.
Not my favorite Carlisle, I think Galloni might have been right about this one, as the fruit body of the wine doesn't sustain itself through the finish. Raspberry core with dark chocolate and hints of pepper and spice, the whole package was a little light and boozy, more like a Turley that went astray than the polish I usually associate with Carlisle.
Beautiful Zin with a bright acidity keeping it surprisingly fresh and crisp despite it's lofty 15,8% abv. Didn't sence the alc. at all actually. Nice brambly Zin spice and primary fruit flavours combined.
