Menthol and earth on the nose. On the palate, raspberry, blackberry, tobacco, and black pepper, with earthy notes on the medium finish and good acidity. This is a classic Zinfandel as it is now, but I think it may improve with a few more years on it. I'm not sorry I opened it, but I'm sorry I don't have more.
Days 1, very tart wine. Nice but tart. Day 2, aromas of mulberry, lilac, pepper, raspberry and blueberry. Very big nose and intoxicating. More like a typical Montafi today with flavors of raspberry, blueberry, mulberry and sour cherry. Ends with a long finish of 25 seconds.
