(Château Bouscassé Madiran) Alain Brumont, one of the leading growers in the Madiran region of southwest France, is uniquely adept at bringing out the charm and fruit flavor of the massive Tannat variety. This great red-wine value certainly delivers the goods if you are looking for something with a little muscle behind it. The 2003 vintage is bountiful, offering dark-cherry and blackberry notes. Last and best bottle. Much more mature than two years ago. Decanted just before dinner. Superb nose with black currant, leather and forest floor, on the palate still quite tart, good freshness and concentration, long finish, requires food, fits perfectly to cheese (brebis). Never thought that this might develop so well, wish I had some more bottles left, there is still no hurry, this wine has its best still ahead. Incredible price to quality relation, 91+.

Djup, stram doft. Rökt köttkorv. Stringent stram smak med levande syra men livlös frukt. Har nog sett bättre dagar.

Bottle 11 from 12, still improving. Very present tannin, some plum and remarkable acidity, needs a lot of air. More the classic Rioja Reserva style than Bordeaux, though the colour would more point to Bordeaux. Very good QPR.

Tasty wine with some good red fruit. But still tannic, too. Best with food. Good QPR for $12.50
